5 Simple Side Hustles You Can Start in Nairobi Today

                                Let's Talk Hustle!

Side hustles are no longer just extra income—they’re survival, freedom, and the gateway to your dreams. If you’re in Nairobi and wondering where to start, this post is for you.

I’m Jesse and here on Side Hustle Nairobi, I’ll be sharing practical, tested, and street-smart ways to grow your money. Let’s kick things off with 5 simple hustles you can start even with little or no capital.

1. Selling Thrift Clothes (Mitumba) Gikomba is the go-to, but you can also source from Toi or online suppliers. Instagram and WhatsApp are great platforms to sell. Start small, take clean pics, post daily, and offer delivery (even via boda). Low risk, fast returns.

2. Offering Online Services (Freelancing) If you can write, design, edit, or even do voiceovers, platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, and even local Facebook groups have gigs. I started with writing, and you can too—even with just a phone.

3. Delivery Services Have a bike or a friend who does? Join Bolt, Uber Eats, or offer office-to-office delivery. You can even partner with small businesses that don’t have delivery support yet.

4. Content Creation Start a TikTok or Instagram page around something you enjoy—money tips, lifestyle, food, fashion. With consistency and a niche, brands will find you. Even better, I’ll be sharing AI tools that make content creation faster.

5. Reselling Airtime/Data or Paybill Services Become an M-Pesa agent, or use apps like Tangaza or Pesapal to earn small commissions on airtime, electricity tokens, and bill payments. You’d be surprised how this adds up.

                                            Wrap Up!

Hustling in Nairobi is about being sharp, flexible, and staying hungry. Start small, be consistent, and you’ll grow. In the coming posts, I’ll dive deeper into each hustle—and even show you how to start your own blog just like this one.
